This week is Alex's half-term break (essentially fall break). He has the week off. This is his first day off of school since it started in late August. After this week off, he'll have three more days off (two for conferences and one for teacher in-service) and then Christmas break. There are a lot fewer sporadic days off over here. Though he does get three weeks off for Christmas since it is an international school and a lot of kids travel to other countries over the holidays.

On Friday we drove to Calais, France where we spent the night so that we could take the Chunnel to England on Saturday morning. For those who don't know, you put your car on a train that goes under the English Channel. It only takes 35 minutes. Pretty interesting experience.

Here you can see the cars getting on the train.

And here is our car inside the train.

Once we got to England we were lucky to get to spend the morning with Sally and Tony in Kent. They live in a house built in the 1400s.

Next we drove up to Liverpool. On Sunday we decided to spend some time in Wales. We went to Ewloe Castle.

And we've been watching the Welcome to Wrexham show, so we had to go to Wrexham. This is us outside of The Turf for those of you who have watched the show.

That night we got to see Liverpool beat Chelsea. Alex's favorite player, Mo Sallah, scored on a penalty kick.

It was great to spend time in two new countries.

Next up: Scotland and Ireland.
