Last Two Cross Country Meets

Alex's last two cross country meets were both in the Netherlands. The first was in The Hague. It was a 3k course through the forest and very pretty.

Alex won some chocolate which made him very happy.

The final meet of the season was the championship meet. It was held in Amsterdam this year at a place called "The Bos" which is a forest that is 5 meters below sea level - a great place to run!

Mike and I had to do a bunch of court marshaling (trying to keep the horses off of the track).

It was quite cold, so we were bundled up, but it didn't rain which was good.

Alex ran a super strong race.

He got third place and his team won for his age group and for the overall meet.

(You can see Alex's head peaking out at the back left.)

The next day they had a fundraiser where the kids would ran 1M laps to "earn" trees that would be donated to forest charity. Alex ran 12 miles during the fundraiser - the highest number for his school.

And then...there was a 5k which Alex and Mike ran together.

So, with the 1 mile warm up for the 5k, Alex ran 16 miles on Saturday. If you add in his 4 miles (including warm up) on Friday, he ran 20 miles this past weekend.

You can tell Mike was pretty tired after the 5k. Surprisingly, Alex looks fine. :-)

It was a super fun couple of days.
